EARLY EXIT AWARD

A learner who successfully completes one year with 60 ECTS credits will be eligible for an exit award, that is, Master of Philosophy in Management (M.Phil) from Universidad Catolica De Murcia, Spain, if he decides to exit the course without completing the final research. The exit award comes with an additional certification fee of USD 3000.00 apart from the one- year fee. The learner will be allowed to resume his research at a later stage if he wishes to continue his DBA not exceeding 5 years from the date of exit. A total of five modules have to be successfully completed to be awarded an M.Phil degree.

COURSE STRUCTURE

The program offers a well-structured coursework, designed to build research competencies. This is followed by a research project that aims to demonstrate the skills and knowledge gained in the initial course work, contributing to the improvement and enhancement of the existing business practices.

Stage 1 (Taught Modules) Duration-1 year

This is comprised of five modules taught in Year 1, contributing to 60 ECTS Credits.

The purpose of Year 1 is to provide a theoretical and practical foundation in research methodology for advanced empirical research within the management field. The latter part of the Year 1 is to apply knowledge and understanding of research methodology to an actual pilot study and overall thesis proposal, and to reflect on own performance as a researcher.

Stage 2 (Research) Duration- 2 years

The purpose of Year 2 and Year 3 is to conduct full-fledged primary research under the supervision of a guide. The two years are used to produce a detailed thesis meeting the expectations of research required at doctoral level.

Admission Process

Once the application is submitted, the Admissions Team will screen it to verify your eligibility for the program. If eligible, an interview will be scheduled for you with the Interview Panel of the program.

The process will be conducted through telephone/skype/zoom for international candidates. The results will be released within one week of your interview.

A- Candidates must have an MBA or Master degree or equivalent from recognized institutions

B- Candidates must have at least three years of work experience at managerial level.

C- Candidates must have a thorough command of written and spoken English. English level: 6.0 IELTS or equivalent.

Dr. Andrew Hambler | BA (Hons), Msc, LLM, PhD, SFHEA Consultant Director - DBA

Dr. Andrew is an experienced academic who has worked for 16 years in universities in the United Kingdom as a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor. Andrew’s degrees are from Durham University, University of Manchester and the University of Leicester. He studied for his doctorate at Durham University. Andrew worked with Westford University College for many years as a partnerships manager and link tutor and has a detailed understanding of the needs and expectations of experienced professionals undertaking study internationally. He is an experienced doctoral supervisor and examiner and has advised a number of Higher Education institutions in the UK and overseas on their course development, including the introduction of professional doctorates.

Andrew’s research is in the areas of labour law and human resources and he has a particular interest in the role of religion at the workplace. He has published several articles, book chapters and a monograph. He started his career as an HR Consultant for the global financial services company PwC. For some years, he was an officer in the British Reserve Forces. Andrew helped to design and write the DBA programme and he continues to provide advice and guidance to the programme team as well as undertaking some supervision, research training and examination work.

1.Can I apply to the program without finalizing my research topic?

Yes, you don’t need to finalize your research topic to start the course. You may need to finalize the broad subject area of interest and the program team will advise you about your chosen theme and assist you in finding a sustainable research topic. The final research topic should be approved prior to starting the final research.

2. Which research topics are accepted?

All topics are accepted as long as your research is connected to management. You can choose from a variety of fields such as HR, finance, marketing, organizational behavior, international business, strategy and others.

3. Is the DBA program appropriate for professionals with full-time employment?

Yes, the program is structured to accommodate the busy schedules of full-time professionals with a strong support system which is highly flexible. Though the course duration is 36 months, the learner can complete it within 24 months or can extend to 48 months. It depends on the time the student has to invest for the research.

4. What steps can I take if I am unable to complete the program in 3 years?

It is possible to extend the duration for an extra year with an additional fee.

5. What if I have to exit the programme before completion of research?

If the learner wants to leave the course midway of research or at the start of the research, he will have an option to choose for an Exit Award, that is, MPhil in Management. Exit award fee is applicable.

The Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) is a blended part-time professional doctoral degree of international scope and reputation, designed to enhance executive and professional practice through the application of sound theory and rigorous research into real and complex issues in business and management.
